Introduction S. A. Dazela makes extensive use of dialogue in the depiction of characters in the novel Izono zakho ziya kukujikela. However, literary critics have paid no attention to this aspect of the novel. It is for this reason that the use of dialogue in the presentation of the personality traits of Mpumlo (one of the leading characters) is undertaken. This character's personality traits are more explicitly depicted through the use of dialogue. These personality traits will be judged by considering what Mpumlo says about himself or other characters, and what other characters say about him in their conversations.
